If you're between 18 and 24 and live in the Blackpool area, getting tested for Chlamydia is easy.
The test is painless, simple, free and confidential and what's more, each person who completes a test will be eligible to receive a free cinema ticket to watch a film of their choice.
You can opt to visit your local GUM clinic and have the test done there. Otherwise, you can do the test at home either by picking up a home testing kit from GP surgeries, community pharmacies or sexual health clinics or by ordering the test here, downloading the phone app or by calling 01253 956507 (lines are open 9am to 4 pm Monday to Friday).
Your nearest GUM clinic is: Sexual Health Services, Whitegate Health Centre, Whitegate Drive, Blackpool, FY3 9ES.
Fancy yourself as the 21st century's answer to Alfred Hitchcock? The next Steven Spielberg or Katherine Bigelow? If you've got a passion for movie making and want to flex your creative muscles then we've got a brief for you.
If you haven't clocked the trailer on the Home Page, then check it out now because what we're asking you to do is to come up with your version. You can choose any film genre you want from rom-com to sci-fi, but you must deliver the message about getting tested for Chlamydia and it must appeal to an 18 to 24 year old target market.
You can download the complete brief here which includes information on film length, acceptable formats, how to submit your entry and the deadline for submissions.
Shortlisted films will be featured on our Facebook page, YouTube feed and linked to our Twitter account before a winner is announced at the beginning of March 2012.
If you think you can do better than us (and we're sure you can), then it's time to get the cameras rolling.
Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by a bacterium called Chlamydia trachomatis. It is easily passed from one person to another through unprotected sex (not using a condom).
It is the most commonly diagnosed STI and is most prevalent in the under 25 age group. Because it is often symptomless, the only way to know for sure whether you have got Chlamydia or not is to have a test.
The test is easy, you don't even need to be examined and treatment is generally very straightforward too. The infection can usually be treated with a single course of antibiotics. Like many infections, however, it is far easier to treat if it is diagnosed early so if you're in any doubt have a test as soon as possible.
Left untreated, Chlamydia can spread to other parts of the body, causing pain and potentially leading to infertility in women and reduced fertility in men. So whilst it may be symptomless and painless in the beginning, it is vital to get tested as it can become much more serious later on.
